i thinking of getting an ipod but i need to know your opinion of it should i stick with an mp3 player? what can an ipod do that an mp3 player can't?
You might want to take this to a new thread.
That said, an iPod is an "MP3 player", but one that has a great user interface and complete integration with iTunes and the iTunes Music Store where you can buy music, audiobooks and even videos.

[It should be prety clear to most people that an iPod with a screen large enough to read would be WAY to large to cary around on a belt clip and use as a music player.
It would be hard to make a good book reader. Even the screen on the Mac Book is not nearly as good as a printed page and I can't image a MB like screen on an iPod
What I'm waiting for are the "iGlasses". It is a display that look like a pair of eye glasses. Some kind of projector is built into the frame.

Reality is that the iMac will get the job done, with plenty of speed, beautiful, and reliable, much better than the $750 PC. For jobs that it can't get done, sorry mate, there is a reason why each processor in the Mac Pro alone costs a lot more than the whole $750 PC.
You do realize that Intel lists the processor (W3530) (http://files.shareholder.com/downloads/INTC/1224760103x0x457323/BFE1FB8B-F199-4C32-B57C-48A17B68AB72/Apr_11_11_1ku_Price.pdf) in the entry level Mac Pro uses for $294? And that the processor is a generation behind and significantly slower than the $750 PC (using an i7-2600 processor which also lists at $294) I mentioned? Right?
I'm as big of an Apple fan as there is. I've owned more than 2 dozen different Macs over the years dating back to the mid 80's. The license plate on my car is "MAC GUY". I paid my way through college programing on them mostly in HyperCard. I own more Apple stock than any other company's stock in my portfolio. But I'm also realistic enough to see that in some areas Apple is not price/performance competitive and probably will never be.
I hate car analogies but yeah a $50K Lexus is better than a $20K GM, but for some people it is not and will never be worth 2-3x the cost. Some people don't need or want to pay the premium for a car that can parallel park itself or rear heated seats! ;-) Lexus has a cap on what their marketshare could be no matter how great their product is which was my original point about Apple.

I assume you mean headless tower since all the iMacs and the MAC Mini are desktops......... Oh wait, isn't the MAC Pro a headless tower?
It's a workstation, not a desktop. Apple need to plug that gap something serious!

The iPod touch is quite thin already.. moving some parts around and adding a hard drive in it could make it about as thick as the iPhone but with the capacity of a Mac.. just think of the possibilities..
Reminds me about the Palm LifeDrive.. it's about time a modern device takes it over.
As a couple stated on this page and I brought up several pages ago, a HDD based touch is something you won't see, based on the HDs latency and speed issues.

Not particularly thrilled about these, I thought I would be pissed when the C2D MacBooks came out, but the only thing worth it to me is the hardrive otherwise I'll stick with my Core Duo MacBook :).
(Of course, day by day those C2D MacBook Pros are looking more and more enticing...)

Is it just me, or does the new iTunes logo look horrible in the dock? It doesnt seem to match anything, and it just doesnt look as "clean" as the typical dock logos have been/should be. When i went to click iTunes for the first time and it changed from the nice/clean green logo to this blue cheesy looking 1995 icon, I was pretty surprised!
I think everyone should send massive feedback about how horrid everything in iTunes looks compared to before, even with the new features (which are great). Maybe they'll change it back, at least on OS X.

Who knows if the story it true or not. Regardless Walmart bully's everyone, small stores who are in its path as well as suppliers. They're some suppliers who sell merchandise at Walmart at a loss just to get on their precious shelf space.

Yeah, not really into that mentality either. As for the previous 2 posters. thanks for the response, but it wasn't necessary to patronize me as if I don't know what a serious relationship entails, and make assumptions. You didn't really provide any further insight, besides 'I need to keep the peace'. I stated in my post, the only issue should be about money. If you can't afford it, you certainly shouldn't even ask your wife permission to buy it, its just irresponsible and childish. If you can afford it, the wife shouldn't be able to stop you 'just because'. Does she run her purchases by you? Doubtful. Not every ****ing thing needs to be a joint decision where 'approval' is required. In many relationships, what would happen if the husband refused to give permission to the wife to buy something she wants (ie. an overpriced piece of fabric or shiny rock)? He would be seen as cheap, assholish, rules with an 'iron fist', controlling, a bad husband, etc etc. It basically wouldn't stand. But the wife can have veto for purchasing decisions as she pleases, even though the guy brings home most or all of the income? That's called unreasonable, so **** that ****. But nice to know you're all cool with it. I guess they have the power to refuse sex, which leverage.
I TOTALLY agree with you!! I find it sad and disturbing at the same time. I can't even imagine that my girlfriend would actually tell me that i can't buy the ipad. Unless, of course, she has a good reason for it. I would find it normal when she tells me that it's, due to financial reasons, better not to buy the ipad, as a woman certainly should take responsibility over the household. If she doesn't have a good reason: I think it's really shameful for a woman to have the rudeness to tell a man what he HAS to do and what not. Why? Because they are the ones who have been complaining for years about men's domination and striving after equality. Is this equality?
In those relationships either two things are going on: 1. You picked the wrong wife. 2. you SOMEHOW must have lost your masculinity on the way of marrying a woman.
Oh, and just to prevent people from judging me: I'm not the kind of man who 'rules with iron fist'. I just find it shameful that nowadays men seem to be in control of women. Don't you guys think this is ridiculous?! It indeed strikes me that, like Slurpy2k8 said, men would be seen as assholish and cheap whenever they refuse to do something for a women. Things i've been seeing lately are definitely NOT about equality.
For the men who are in total ridiculous control of women: Please, get back at least some of your masculinity...

Still on the fence about getting the 11.6" mba. While small, I think multitasking will be a nightmare on it. So cute though!
I tried it out at the Apple Store today, and I think all the multitasking aides built into OS X (Spaces, Expose, four-finger gestures, etc) are enough to compensate for the small screen size. It's 1000x better than using XP on my 10" Dell netbook

I think what you said is very interesting and insightful. I have a big problem with the concept of original sin, or that people need saving in some way.
If I could just pick out some small thing?
I'm not sure everyone is born strictly neutral. There is a lot of evidence to show morality is, in part, evolutionary. I'm not saying people are born to be automatically wonderful, but if there was no structured society people would not all become mass murderers. Therefore I'd say people (with a few exceptions) are born with very basic morality already in place. However, upbringing and society can add or detract from this.
Of course, this is viewed by a modern standard, and as you suggested- what is "good" and what is "bad" without a standard to judge it by? My head hurts! :confused:Monotheism was invented by priests in exile: they needed to acquire leverage over a scattered population. How better than to tell everyone they were damned by default and could only be saved through the intercession of God's Go-Betweens™. In the Good Old (Polytheistic) Days, you could play one god off against another.

That's a nice chart that does what you want to see in, say, a stock that you own: it makes higher highs and lower lows while all the while in a climbing trend.

I really hope they choose to upgrade the default amount of RAM. 512mb is simply not enough. Sure some of you will argue, but I've tried a Macbook with 512 and one with 1gb and the latter is far better. To me it seems like 1gb is OSX's sweet spot, and 512mb is just barely lacking. I was pretty surprised when they decided to go with 512mb stock in the first place.

Steve looks unhealthy. He's not as sharp as he used to be. His keynotes were flawless. He stuttered several times, forgot what he was saying in mid sentence, and handed a considerable amount of the keynote to other people. Steve was a control freak in past WWDC keynotes.
I think he may be in not-so-good health. But I've said that before.
I had the same reaction... he almost looked gaunt. I just compared shots of Steve yesterday with his appearance at the January Macworld Expo, and there's a noticeable difference. Plus, the tag team approach to demoing Leopard's features made it seem as if he needed time to rest in between the parts of his presentation.

No, I don't watch TV in the summer. Reruns are lame. Reality shows are stupid. TiVo is God.
So.. when Microsoft challenges me to figure out "Where I Want To Go Today?", I should be pissed because Windows won't take me to Peoria?

Maybe they won't be 100% compliant, but unless something earth shattering happens before 802.11n is finalized, I'd expect that many draft-n products could be made compatible with equipment using the the final standard, with little more than a firmware change.
And wasn't 802.11g still in the draft stage when it was introduced in the AirPort Extreme? (Extreme was introduced on January 7, but 802.11g was not ratified until June 2003.)
That is something I've been wondering - what is the approval process like for these standards? Specifically, why does this take so long for approval?
I think its great that Apple is putting the pre-N capable hardware in to the iMac's, MP and MBP already just awaiting a pre-N capable base station to make it fly. Oooh - maybe they will intro this in November to have a sale on one for Black Friday? Steve, how about it?
Certainly the pre-n stuff will be turned on in January for the iTV intro. Here's a thought - so will there be MB and MM update prior to iTV so that the entire line will have pre-n hardware and be capable of communicating to the iTV at full tilt speeds? I'm guessing so!

Doesn't "something in the air" usually refer to love? So it could mean anything, which is why its showing ;).
Of course as a technological thing, it probably refers to wireless, or possibly something "light".
