I had applied for different labor (different employee and different job) in April 2001 but that case went nowhere and had to apply for new one in Dec 04 without the possibility of transferring the earlier PD.

USCIS receives around 7.5 million applications a year and mistakes happen. Cut them some slack here. Bad luck to OP. Contact USCIS and see what happens and please post here after your issue is resolved. Others will benefit from your experience.
Regardless of the amount of application they receive, they have to provide 'good' service for the amount they charge for each application.
If we assume the per charge of each application is $100.00 or $200.00
7.5miilion X $100.00 = $750 million.
7.5million X $200.00 = $1.5 Billion.
you have a huge receivable account. And it can be run more efficiently and accurately giving good customer satisfaction.
I feel sorry for the person who has posted this thread. Cause he may have made lot of planning to travel, book flight tickets etc...and it all has to change...so, there is also a secondary cost involved if one goes thru this kind of 'errors'.

Emailed my attorney immediately and he said that as long as the checks do not bounce the application is going to be OK.
It does not matter to the USCIS if the checks do not have the same address as on the I485.

I suggest we keep the old name. Lets spend any resources in achieving "core strategic" issues. Per my understanding name change doesn't make that list.
This is a volunteer organization and we should shy away from increasing unnecessary work for the volunteers.
Also, this legal vs illegal issue was a trap devised by the some of the right-wing politicians to divide the immigrants. If we do that we are buying into that. We have gained enough momentum and recognition among the media and politicians by now so that they are now familiar with our vision.
We are looking for friends lets not create unnecessary enemies.

to convince them by saying that if a person can legally work in the US, a fact they acknowledge, the person can very well study! I don't think there would be any law that explicitly states this because it seems to be illogical that someone can work legally in a country, but not study! The reverse makes sense and that's why there are explicit laws about that. Good luck!

Then you will get added to a national registry.
Alternately you can also register online if you not in a metropolitan area. We are having lot of drives right now in New York,New jersey,DC areas.

I'm sorry but I have no idea what the new procedure is. The attorney just informed me that there is a new procedure and he emailed them all the info. So I assume that the new procedure is an email based system .
